I am pleased to share a few words about our esteemed Anna Centenary Library. It is established in the year 2010 in reminiscence of renowned personality CN Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu under the governance of M. Karunanidhi former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu.
Our Library is 8-Floor storied building with centralized Air Condition. It is kept open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM throughout the year for the public except a few national holidays. Our library has more than 6 lacks printed Books and 60 thousand non books materials such as e-books and CDs in various discipline. It is integrated with Library Management System that includes RFID Technology, Self Check devices and smart card facilities are available.

0 - Ground Floor In view of commemorates everyone our reception warm welcomed with a decorative traditional Lamp and offering proper guidance service. In Ground Floor Braille Section it is a separate high-tech section for visually impaired people. It has printed books, e-books and talking books in various subjects’ books, Novels, Stories and Braille displays. This Braille section offering Google groups mailing news papers, job alerts and current content. And offering conversion of text materials in to audio format with help of DSpeech. NVDA is used for screen reader software solution, and Braille Mithra digital reader is available for reading in Braille format, and the printer can print from various language. In this
ground floor one more special section called senthamil sirpigal arangam (செந்தமிழ்ச் சிற்பிகள் அரங்கம்). it was opend on 17.02.2024. It gives
information about those who are gave their contribution to Tamil Language

User can get the Membership details from that section. And own book reading section is aimed for the users who like to have sophisticated furniture, cool and calm reading atmosphere. The users are allowed to bring their personal books, learning materials and laptops with in the section. One hour has been extended for the personal reading users before and after the usual timing. And the competitive exam section has all kind of competitive exam books and periodicals. This section offering a exam alert services to the competitive aspirants.
1st Floor “A” wing has almost two set of all the leading newspapers, magazine are kept in this section for the user. “B” wing is a children section which has fun-filled, theme based learning facilities with multimedia kits and video games. In view of motivating reading habits among the budding kids, more than 75 thousand books in all subjects in Indian and foreign languages are available for sweet kids who are at the age between 4-14 years old. This section take part in various activities for kids including painting, story telling, dance, singing, quiz, movie appreciation and theatre performance in weekend and school holidays.
2nd Floor having almost all the books published in Tamil available in printed books and rare book collection are available in the form of Novels, poems, stories, Drama and etc. in addition to that all south Indian language books too available in this section. Book Releasing hall is available at nominal rental for those who release their book.
Right from 3rd to 7th floors have Latest Books in English version of all subject. According to DDC 22nd Edition it was fully classified and arranged the same order systematically. According to the International AACR II formats all the books are catalogued with Liberty Library Software.
3rd Floor has general, Computer science, Philosophy, Religion and Political Science Books.
4th Floor has Economics, Law, Languages, Linguistic and Literature Books
5th Floor has Basic Sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Medicine Books.
6th Floor has Engineering, management, Fine arts Books including Music and Sports.
7th Floor has Palm Leaf Manuscripts Library (Government Oriental Manuscripts Library), History, Geography and Biography Books and e-Library for Public.
8th Floor has Administration section and Tamilnadu Kalvi TV studio.
Canteen : Aavin booth available in the Library premises
The Library is providing canteen facility to the users as well staff of the Library, it is capable of catering the demands of the users and Staff and can accommodate 50 persons at a time . It has spacious & properly maintained room as well as kitchen. All types of snacks, soft drinks, meals are available at subsidized rates.
In addition to that a state of the art a Seminar Hall, Auditorium with seating capacity of 1500 and an Amphitheatre on the Terrace are attached and CCTV Cameras have been installed in various locations of this Building.

All the Librarians in Anna Centenary Library are well qualified and the most interesting fact is that among 86 librarians, they are excel in their field and sub field, 60 of them have cleared either NET or SET or both the examinations, more than 40 Librarians are completed Ph.D., Definitely they will be tough competitors in Library and Information field at national and even at international level.

Exceedingly organized, the library is divided into separate sections with each floor dedicated to different subject matters. There's a very well equipped Braille section for the visually challenged that has some 1,500 Braille books as well as e-books and audiobooks. The children's section is a sheer delight with its extensive collection covering practically every subject matter. Good post.
